The trail follows the ridge line of Hole in the Ground Mountain. It offers views of the Petit Jean River Valley to the north and the Jack Creek Drainage to the south. Surrounding pine and hardwood forests provide opportunities for viewing deer, squirrel and black bear (highest density in Arkansas). Rugged, steep terrain is normal; geologic formations are abundant. Jack Creek Campground (trailhead) offers developed camping, picnicking, and swimming. Jack Creek and Sugar Creek offer fishing and seasonal Class III white water. A short day hike on the Hole in the Ground Mountain Trail allows visitors to explore exciting outdoor opportunities.
